Grades 10 - 12
Our Oberstufe (High School) consists of grades 10 – 12. Currently, 87 students visit the Oberstufe. In addition to the German graduation exam (Abitur), our students can obtain a Maryland High School Diploma. Students who are currently in 12th grade will be the first to graduate according to bilingual DIA-exam regulations at the end of the school year 2016/17 .
Each grade is split in two classes, with each having their own homeroom where most of the main subjects are taught. For the Second and Third Foreign Language, as well as Sciences, Art and Music, students are taught in different formations outside their homeroom. The 10th grade represents the introductory phase to the Oberstufe, where two out of the three Natural Sciences and two Foreign Language courses are mandatory. At the beginning of 10th grade, students can choose between Physics or Spanish as a Third Language. In 11th and 12th grade, students choose four classes from the combined courses of Natural Sciences and Foreign Languages, whereby one course from each field is mandatory.
