Information

March 30, 2020:  Gov. Larry Hogan issued a stay-at-home order for Marylanders which means no one should leave their home for any reason other than essential work, to get food or other fundamental reason. The order takes effect at 8 pm.
For the GISW this means:

1. All GISW buildings will be closed for the foreseeable future.

2. In order to give our teachers and parents more time to prepare, we are postponing both parent nights that were scheduled for tonight to Thursday at the same time.

Distance Learning until Friday, April 24th, 2020.

We are here for you as we continue to prepare for the 2020/21 school year. The Admissions Office remains open. Please complete this form and we will contact you: https://giswashington.org/request-information-package.html

Music

All children love music. Most of our little ones move, dance and sing all day long. In our Preschool, we support and foster this love by accompanying various rituals with songs: time of arrival, leaving time, birthdays, to name but a few. In addition every group has 30 - 45 minutes of more formal music classes on a fortnightly basis. We learn new songs, mainly in English to aid language acquisition, we dance and play musical coordination- and counting games, we act out songs, sometimes we use simple Orff instruments. We introduce our preschoolers to the rich assortment of traditional German children's songs and seasonal German songs. And we are rewarded by the children’s' pure joy during the big music circle.
